Murtagh Digital Suite - Frequently Asked Questions

My General Practice Series digital product won't work on Windows 7.

Murtagh's General Practice Series USB and CD-ROM products are compatible with Windows 2000, XP or Vista. The products are not compatible with Windows 7. If you are only able to access computers running Windows 7 it is not recommended that you purchase these products.

My General Practice Series USB won't work on my Mac.

There are two versions of the USB product, one designed for PC users and one for Mac users. Mac users will only be able to use the product if they have the Mac version. (Note: the Mac version will function on a PC, but not vice versa.)
Murtagh's General Practice Series USB is compatible with Mac OS X v 10.1.11-10.5.5. It is not compatible with v 10.6. If you are only able to access computers running v 10.6 it is not recommended that you purchase this item.

My General Practice Series USB doesn't automatically play when I plug it in (PC users).

There are a number of reasons why the USB might not autoplay, the most common reason is that the autoplay settings on your computer are not set up this way.

You can manually run the product using the following steps:
  • Insert your USB into your port.
  • Go to 'My Computer' and you will see a number of options, including ' Devices with removable storage' - under this heading you will see two new items, both of these relate to your USB.
  • One is a CD-style partition that contains your Murtagh content, the other is a normal USB space for saving files as necessary.

Double click on the McGraw-Hill logo 'GPSeries4e'.

[ NOTE: if you do not see an icon, the part of the USB that contains the content will appear as a second CD drive and you should click on that.]

Double click on the McGraw-Hill logo 'TGPS.exe' to launch Murtagh's General Practice Series 4e.

If you are using Vista, the problem may be that your version of Vista is not set up to autoplay media. Go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Change-AutoPlay-settings for instructions on how to change your autoplay settings.

Does my General Practice Series USB have to be plugged in to use it?

Yes, the USB works in the same way as a CD-ROM and needs to be inserted into your computer while you are using the product. The product is designed so that you can carry it with you and use it wherever you are, but it does need to be plugged in.

Can I use my General Practice Series USB on more than one computer?

Because the product is designed to be run directly from the USB while it is plugged in, you are able to use the USB on more than one computer. However, you are NOT entitled to download and install the files on multiple computers. This is against the licence agreement as set out at the start of the product. The product will not function properly if you try to do this.
